280GSM / 150cm / Knit and Woven Apparel & Upholstery Fabric

Plain Corduroy Fabric answers the demand many buyers have when sourcing solid corduroy. If you're on the hunt for plain corduroy, you already know exactly what you need: no prints, no plaids, no busy motifs-only crisp solid hues paired with timeless ribbed detailing. This straightforward style sounds easy to source, yet maintaining uniform, reliable quality can be tricky.

This is a woven corduroy, plain and straightforward. No patterns, no prints - just solid, even color across the full width. The ribs run clean and parallel, giving you that classic corduroy look that works for just about anything. It is 280 GSM - heavy enough to hold its shape but not so heavy that it feels stiff or bulky. The width is 150 cm, which gives you good cutting yield for both apparel and upholstery projects.

We make this Plain Corduroy Fabric from 100% polyester. It is dyed and brushed. The brushing process raises a soft nap on the surface, so the fabric feels warm and comfortable to the touch - not rough like some lower-grade corduroys. And the anti-pilling treatment means you are not going to get those little fiber balls forming on the surface after a few months of use.

Currently, this fabric is available in 30 stock colors, We also offer custom color matching. You give us your reference, we match it. Custom widths are available as well if your production line requires something different from the standard 150cm.

Let me give you the practical view - not the sales pitch version.

Why plain.

Some buyers want prints. Some want plaids. Some want patterns. But plain colors never go out of style. If you are making garments, plain corduroy gives you the most flexibility - it pairs with anything, works across seasons, and appeals to the widest range of customers. If you are making upholstery, plain colors let the texture do the talking. The ribs provide visual interest without competing with other patterns in the room. That is why we keep this Plain Corduroy Fabric in stock - because plain is what most buyers actually need.

Why 280 GSM.

Heavy enough to last. Light enough to work with. At 280 GSM, this fabric handles everyday wear without feeling stiff like cardboard. If you go below 250 GSM, the fabric tends to wear thin - you get that shiny, worn look on elbows, knees, and seating areas. If you go above 320 GSM, it becomes harder to sew, especially on curved sections and seams. So we settled at 280. It works for both apparel and upholstery.

What the brushing does.

Brushing isn't just a surface touch-up step for our corduroy. This process lifts a delicate, even nap all over the textile, bringing two tangible perks straight to your finished goods.

First, it delivers a plush, cozy hand feel and subtle heat retention. Anyone wearing garments made from this fabric, or resting on upholstery covered in it, won't get that harsh cold, slippery sensation typical of raw polyester. It loses that cheap plastic vibe, and takes on the warm, organic tactility buyers expect from premium textiles.

We also time brushing to happen post-dyeing, a small detail many manufacturers skip. This order locks in uniform pigment across the entire roll, eliminating splotchy, patchy discoloration common with rushed, pre-brush dye workflows.

Anti-pilling - what it actually means.

We treat this Plain Corduroy Fabric to resist pilling. If you have ever seen cheap corduroy with those little fuzz balls forming on the surface - that is pilling. It happens when short fibers work their way to the surface and tangle up. Our treatment locks those fibers down. The fabric stays clean-looking for longer. Your customers notice that, even if they do not know the technical term for it.

Stock colors.

We keep 30 more colors in stock, numbered 1 through 30. These are our standard plain shades, and they are ready for production with shorter lead times. If you need a color that is not in our standard range, we can do custom matching.

Custom colors.

We do custom colors for this fabric. If you have a Pantone number, a physical reference, or even a photo of the color you want, we can match it. Our dye house runs small batches for sample approval before we go into full production.

Custom width.

150 cm is our standard. If your cutting patterns work better with a different width, we can adjust. Just tell us what you need.

MOQ and pricing.

For this plain corduroy fabric, our standard minimum order stands at 600 meters per color, a volume tailored to fit our factory's production workflow. If you're working with a smaller order size, feel free to reach out to discuss options. We often accommodate partial runs for brands trialing new shades or creating limited-run lines. Final pricing will shift based on your total ordered length, how complex your chosen color formula is, and any personalized custom requests you add.

Delivery timeline.

For this plain corduroy fabric, our baseline minimum order hits 600 meters per color, which aligns with our factory's standard production workflow. If you're placing a smaller batch, get in touch with our team to go over alternatives. We regularly split production runs for brands trialing new hues or rolling out limited-edition lines. Final pricing is calculated based on your total meterage, how intricate your color matching is, plus any extra custom specifications you add.

Once your deposit clears, our full production cycle from weaving, dyeing, brushing and finishing all the way to final packaging takes 15 to 20 working days before dispatch. We stick to this steady lead time for all regular orders. Should you face a tight delivery deadline, we're happy to review faster expedited manufacturing solutions with you.

Standard samples - A4-size cuttings of existing stock colors are free. You just pay the shipping cost. If you have your own courier account with FedEx, DHL, or TNT, we can ship using your account and you do not pay us anything for the sample.

Custom samples - If you want a specific color matched and a sample produced before you place the full order, there is a sample charge. That covers the dyeing setup and the production of a small batch. We deduct that sample charge from your final order if you go ahead with production.

FAQ

Q1: Is this fabric suitable for both apparel and upholstery?

A1: Yes. The 280 GSM weight works well for both. For apparel - jackets, pants, skirts, shirts - it gives you structure without being too heavy. For upholstery - sofas, cushions, headboards - it holds up to daily use. If your primary use is heavy-duty upholstery, we might recommend a heavier weight. But for general use, this one covers both.

Q2: What colors do you have in stock?

A2: We keep 20 stock colors, numbered 11 through 30. The range includes neutrals - black, navy, charcoal, beige, brown - as well as some bolder shades. If you want the full list, we can send you a color card. Screens do not show the colors accurately, so we recommend getting a physical swatch ring.

Q3: What's your minimum order quantity for plain corduroy?

A3: Our baseline production MOQ sits at 500 meters for each single color, which follows our normal bulk manufacturing rules. We maintain ready stock for all best-selling shades though, and these stocked colors can be ordered starting at just 100 meters. We provide complimentary A4 fabric swatches for sample checking. Should you need a complete color card set, we arrange shipment within 24 hours through DHL or FedEx; you'll only need to cover the courier delivery cost.

Q4: Am I able to request a physical color swatch ring?

A4: Absolutely, and we highly suggest grabbing one first. Digital displays never render fabric tones faithfully. This plain corduroy carries a subtle unique luster and ribbed texture that simply won't translate correctly on any screen. Dark hues in particular show obvious color discrepancies between device previews and real fabric. We have complete swatch rings covering all 20 in-stock colors available at no cost. Many of our clients mention that checking physical swatches upfront cuts down delays and prevents costly color mismatches once bulk production starts.

Q5: Do you offer custom color matching services?

A5: Sure, custom color development is something we handle for clients all the time. Just share your color reference with us-this can be a Pantone code, an actual fabric swatch, or a well-lit clear photo. Our dye workshop will then mix the pigment to replicate your desired shade precisely. We'll make lab dip samples for you to sign off on before kicking off full mass production. There is a small lab fee for custom color development, and this cost will be subtracted from your total bulk invoice later on.

Q6: Does this plain corduroy come with stretch?

A6: It has zero elasticity at all. This variant is woven corduroy by design, so stretch isn't part of its makeup-and that's a deliberate feature. When used for clothing, the woven build delivers sharp, structured lines that won't lose their form. For upholstery projects, the fabric sits taut without drooping or sagging over time. If your project calls for stretch material, such as activewear or curved upholstery pieces, we have alternative corduroy styles available in our catalog. As for this plain corduroy, it's firm, stable and completely non-stretch.

Q7: How do you pack and ship this fabric?

A7: Standard packing is in rolls with a plastic bag to protect against moisture and dust during shipping. If you have specific packing requirements - carton boxes, special wrapping, labeling - we can do that as well. Just let us know when you place the order. We ship from Shanghai or Ningbo port, depending on your shipping line preference.

Q8: How do I wash and care for this plain corduroy?

A8: Turn the fabric inside out before washing. Use cold water, below 30°C, with a mild detergent. Do not use bleach. Do not use fabric softener - it coats the fibers and can flatten the brushed nap over time. Tumble dry low or hang dry in the shade. Iron on the reverse side with a moderate temperature. The brushed surface stays soft and the color holds up well to washing.
