Pinwale variants jump that figure all the way up to 14 to 18 ribs per inch, and we also carry specialty weaves with even tighter rib counts. These tiny, tightly clustered ribs make the material far lighter, softer to the skin and more flexible than basic corduroy. The name itself comes from how thin each single rib is-roughly the width of a common sewing pin.

A2: The gap between the two fabrics boils down to three clear distinctions. For starters, pinwale boasts much thinner, densely compacted ribs, unlike the wide, spaced-out ridges on regular corduroy. Weight is another obvious divide: our pinwale hits 240 GSM, while conventional corduroy runs heavier at 280 to 300 GSM. Last comes drape and softness. Standard corduroy feels rigid with bold, prominent ribs. Pinwale moves fluidly with softer flexibility, lending a muted, polished ribbed finish overall.

A3: Absolutely-tops are one of its most popular uses. Its lightweight base and subtle fine ribs make it ideal for everyday casual shirts, women's blouses and lightweight warm-weather dresses. The fabric hangs softly against the body and feels gentle against skin, plus it holds crisp, neat lines without bulking up. That's why many clothing manufacturers turn to pinwale corduroy for tailored woven tops that fit close to the frame.

A4: A lot of buyers only associate corduroy with thick, heavy material meant for winter coats or upholstery, but pinwale completely flips that perception. Corduroy performance shifts drastically based on rib count and fabric weight, and our ultra-fine pinwale weave offers a totally different feel whether you're sewing garments or soft furnishings.

A5: We highly suggest you get a physical sample before placing bulk orders. The thin pinwale texture is really delicate, and digital photos on screens can't capture how the fabric actually looks. A6: Custom color matching is part of our regular service lineup. Just send over your color reference-we accept Pantone codes, physical fabric swatches, or well-lit high-resolution photos. Our in-house dyeing workshop will then formulate an exact matching hue for your order. There's a one-off lab dip charge for custom color development, but this fee will be fully credited toward your bulk order payment once you confirm mass production.

A7: It's an excellent pick, especially for kids' dresses and everyday tops. The lightweight weave feels soft and gentle next to delicate skin. Unlike thick coarse corduroy that might rub and irritate little ones, its tiny fine ribs won't cause discomfort. Better yet, our fabric holds OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, meaning it meets strict safety standards for direct skin contact on children's wear.

A8: Yes, in a positive way. The finer wales mean the surface is more uniform, so the color reads more evenly. On wider-wale corduroys, dark colors can look patchy because the ribs create shadows and highlights. On pinwale, the color is more consistent. This makes pinwale a better choice for lighter and brighter colors.

A9: It doesn't contain elasticity. This woven corduroy style is non-stretch by design. Though its slim rib construction gives it softer flexibility than regular thick corduroy, it won't stretch at all.
