Stretch Corduroy Fabric By The Yard
Our Stretch Corduroy Fabric By The Yard solves a key limitation of regular rigid corduroy. Basic corduroy holds its form nicely, wears well and maintains a neat appearance, yet it lacks flexibility. It cannot stretch to fit curved surfaces or move freely with the body, often pulling tight or wrinkling under tension. Our stretch corduroy fixes this issue entirely, stretching smoothly without unwanted puckering or tight pulls.
This is a woven corduroy blended with spandex. The stretch is subtle — about 15-20% in the weft direction — but it makes a real difference in how the fabric performs. It moves with the body, drapes more easily over curved furniture, and recovers its shape after stretching. The fabric is 320 GSM — slightly heavier than standard corduroy, because the spandex adds density. The width is 150 cm, giving you good cutting yield for both apparel and upholstery projects.

We make this Stretch Corduroy Fabric By The Yard from a polyester-spandex blend. The spandex is woven in, not just applied as a finish. That means the stretch is permanent - it does not wash out or degrade over time. The fabric is dyed and brushed. The brushing raises a soft nap on the surface, so it feels warm and comfortable to the touch.
Currently, this fabric is available in 15 stock colors, with custom color matching available. Custom widths are available as well if your production line requires something different from the standard 150 cm.

Why This Stretch Corduroy Fabric Works
Let me walk you through what makes this fabric different - and why you might choose it over standard corduroy.
● Why stretch.
Standard corduroy does not give. It is stable, which is great for many applications. But if you are making fitted garments - pants, skirts, jackets with a close fit - the lack of stretch can be a problem. The fabric pulls across the hips, restricts movement, and makes the garment uncomfortable. If you are upholstering curved furniture - rounded armchairs, curved sofas, barrel chairs - standard corduroy resists the shape. It puckers, it pulls, and it fights the frame. Stretch solves both problems. The fabric moves with the body and conforms to curves. That is why we developed this Stretch Corduroy Fabric.

● By The Yard.
○ How the stretch works.
The spandex is woven into the fabric in the weft direction - that is the horizontal yarns that run across the fabric width. The stretch is about 5-8%, which is enough to make a noticeable difference without compromising the fabric's stability. The fabric stretches when you pull it and recovers its shape when you let go. The stretch is permanent because the spandex is part of the yarn structure, not a surface finish. It does not wash out.
● Why 320 GSM.
At 320 GSM, this fabric is heavier than standard corduroy. The spandex adds density, but the weight also helps with stretch performance - the fabric needs enough heft to recover properly. At 320 GSM, the fabric drapes well, holds its shape, and feels substantial. The weight also makes it suitable for both apparel and upholstery.
● What the brushing does.
The brushing process raises a fine nap on the surface. That gives you two things: a soft feel and a bit of warmth. Despite the spandex content, the fabric feels like corduroy - the brushing hides the synthetic feel. People wearing this fabric or sitting on it do not feel that cold, slick polyester touch. It feels more like cotton corduroy.
● Anti-pilling - what it actually means.
We treat this Stretch Corduroy Fabric By The Yard to resist pilling. The spandex fibers are engineered to resist abrasion, which helps reduce pilling at the surface. Our treatment locks the fibers down further. The fabric stays clean-looking for longer.
● What our customers are actually using it for.
The range is broad. Apparel brands use this fabric for fitted pants and skirts - the stretch gives the garment a better fit and more comfort. Jacket makers use it for blazers and casual jackets - the stretch means the jacket moves with the wearer instead of restricting them. Furniture makers use it for curved and modular furniture - the stretch makes it easier to fit the fabric over the frame without puckering. Slipcover makers like it because it holds its shape better than non-stretch fabrics. We also have customers making fitted cushion covers with it - the stretch makes the covers easier to put on and take off.

Production & Ordering Details
● Stock colors.
We keep 15 stock colors for this Stretch Corduroy Fabric By The Yard. The range includes classic neutrals - charcoal, navy, black, beige, brown, olive - and a few fashion shades. If you need a color not in our standard range, we can do custom matching.
● Custom colors.
We do custom colors for this fabric. If you have a Pantone number, a physical reference, or even a photo of the color you want, we can match it. Our dye house runs small batches for sample approval before full production.
● Custom width.
150 cm is our standard. The stretch is in the weft direction, so width changes affect the stretch percentage. If you need a different width, we can adjust - but we need to recalculate the spandex content and loom setup.
● MOQ and pricing.
Our regular MOQ is 500 meters per color. Spandex-blend fabrics cost more than standard corduroy because the yarns are more expensive and the weaving process is more complex. But the stretch performance justifies the difference. If your order volume is smaller, talk to us - we sometimes split quantities for customers testing new colors or applications.

Delivery timeline.
From deposit confirmation to shipment, we usually deliver within 15-20 working days. This includes weaving, dyeing, brushing, finishing, and packing. The stretch fabric requires slightly more careful handling during finishing, but the timeline is consistent with our standard products.
Sampling Policy
● Standard samples.
A4-size cuttings of existing stock colors are free. You just pay the shipping cost. If you have your own courier account with FedEx, DHL, or TNT, we can ship using your account.
● Custom samples.
If you want a specific color matched before you place the full order, there is a sample charge. That covers the dyeing setup and the production of a small batch. We deduct that sample charge from your final order if you go ahead with production.

FAQ
These are actual questions buyers have asked us about this Stretch Corduroy Fabric By The Yard.
Q1: How much stretch does this fabric actually have?
A1: About 15-20% stretch in the weft direction - that is the width of the fabric. The stretch is permanent because the spandex is woven into the yarn structure, not just applied as a finish. The fabric stretches when you pull it and recovers its shape when you let go. It is not as stretchy as a knit fabric, but the difference is very noticeable compared to standard woven corduroy.
Q2: Does the stretch wash out over time?
A2: No. The spandex is woven into the fabric, not coated on the surface. The stretch is part of the yarn structure. It does not wash out or degrade with normal washing. We test for stretch recovery after washing - the fabric retains its elasticity.
Q3: Is this fabric suitable for fitted garments?
A3: Yes, absolutely. That is one of the main reasons we developed it. The stretch makes it much more comfortable for fitted pants, skirts, and jackets. The fabric moves with the body instead of restricting movement. If you have customers who complain about tight-fitting corduroy, this fabric solves that problem.
