Can suede fabric be washed?

Suede fabric should not be washed. Due to its inherent properties, suede clothing is not water-resistant. Soaking it in water will easily cause it to deform, shrink, or wrinkle. When washing, use special detergents for better results, such as gasoline or tetrachloroethylene.

If suede gets dusty, wipe it with a dry cloth and brush the nap smoothly. Suede is generally not heat-resistant; high temperatures will cause wrinkles. Therefore, do not use hot water when washing, and avoid direct sunlight when drying.

Suede fabric is made from animal fur and is characterized by its softness, delicacy, and good heat insulation. Ordinary washing methods are unsuitable. Simply washing suede with water will cause it to lose its luster, form many wrinkles, and make the fabric look old. Therefore, washing suede is not recommended.

When washing suede garments, first lay them neatly on a table. Then, use a short brush dipped in solvent to gently brush the suede fabric a few times. For particularly dirty areas such as cuffs and collars, scrub repeatedly with the brush. After brushing, wipe away the dirt with a towel, and finally, use a sponge soaked in solvent for a second wash. Let it air dry in a cool, ventilated place.
