Printed Velour Fabric

100% Polyester Warp Knitted Printed Upholstery & Apparel Fabric
Our Printed Velour Fabric carries the same gentle, cozy hand feel as basic solid velour, yet plain solid styles lack visual personality. If you’re aiming for eye-catching decor or clothing pieces — from striking leopard-print sofa upholstery and custom geometric patterned throw pillows to one-of-a-kind fashion material — printed velour adds rich layered visual depth that solid-color fabric simply cannot match. This distinct decorative value is exactly what our printed velour line is crafted to provide.
This is a warp-knitted velour with custom printed patterns on the surface. The printing is done after the fabric is knitted and brushed, so the ink sits on the upright pile. The result is a print that works with the texture rather than fighting it – the pile creates subtle depth and softness that you cannot get on flat woven fabrics. The fabric is 100% polyester, with weights ranging from 180 to 320 GSM, depending on the application.Width is typically 150-180 cm, customisable.

Technical Parameters

100% Polyester Warp Knitted Printed Upholstery & Apparel Fabric

Our Printed Velour Fabric carries the same gentle, cozy hand feel as basic solid velour, yet plain solid styles lack visual personality. If you're aiming for eye-catching decor or clothing pieces - from striking leopard-print sofa upholstery and custom geometric patterned throw pillows to one-of-a-kind fashion material - printed velour adds rich layered visual depth that solid-color fabric simply cannot match.

The fabric is 100% polyester, with weights ranging from 180 to 320 GSM, depending on the application. Width is typically 150-180 cm, customisable.

The warp-knitted construction gives the fabric superior durability and resistance to pilling – it holds up to daily use on sofas and cushions without losing its shape. The printed patterns are vibrant and detailed, with good colourfastness. We offer both standard patterns (leopard, floral, geometric, abstract) and full custom printing – you send us your artwork, we print it on the fabric.

What Makes Printed Velour Different

Let me walk you through what printed velour is, how it is made, and why it is worth considering.

● Velour + print – what does it actually look like?

Velour has an upright pile – the fibres stand straight up rather than tilting in one direction . When you print on velour, the ink sits on the raised pile surface. The pile creates tiny breaks in the pattern, which gives the print a softer, more organic look than on flat fabric . The print also shades darker or lighter depending on which way the pile is lying – a subtle effect that adds depth and character to the design.

● How the printing works for our Printed Velour Fabric.

We adopt heat transfer printing craft to create crisp, intricate patterns with rich matte hues. First, artwork is printed onto dedicated transfer paper, then high-temperature heat pressure transfers the pattern onto cloth. Ink sublimates into gaseous form and fuses fully with polyester fiber molecules. The finished print stays long-lasting, colorfast, and free of cracking or peeling over time. This technique performs amazingly on synthetic velour; heat expands fiber gaps to lock ink deep inside. To guarantee clear, uniform patterns, our Printed Velour Fabric skips thick surface finishing chemicals that would block ink absorption.

Why warp-knitted construction matters for printed velour.

Warp-knitted velour maintains stable dimensions, so it won't deform under printing heat or regular daily use. Tight stitching anchors the plush pile securely to the base fabric, stopping loose fibers from shedding or pulling away. This material also boasts roughly 30% stronger tear resistance than regular upholstery textiles, making it ideal for frequently used sofas and throw pillows. On top of that, its warp-knit weave effectively fights pilling, keeping the fabric surface neat and smooth for extended periods.

Weight options matter.

○ 245 GSM: Lighter weight, suitable for apparel, dresses, and lighter curtains.

○ 280 GSM: Medium weight, the sweet spot for upholstery, cushions, and home textiles.

○ 320 GSM: Heavyweight, ideal for high-traffic upholstery and commercial furniture.

Spandex version for stretch.

We offer a version with 5% elastane, which gives the fabric gentle stretch and better drape . The stretch version is popular for apparel – dresses, robes, and fitted garments – where comfort and fit matter.

● What our customers are using it for.

Furniture makers use printed velour for sofas and armchairs – the print adds personality to the showroom, and the warp-knitted construction means the fabric holds up to daily use . Interior designers use it for cushions and curtains – the velour texture adds warmth, and the custom print allows them to match the client's interior. Apparel brands use lighter-weight versions for dresses, pyjamas, and loungewear – the printed velour is soft, comfortable, and eye-catching . We also have customers using it for car interiors and toys.

Standard Patterns & Custom Printing

● Standard patterns.

We keep a selection of standard patterns in stock: leopard, floral, geometric, abstract, and novelty designs . These are available in multiple colourways with lower MOQ and shorter lead time.

Custom printing.

You send us your artwork – vector files (AI, EPS) or high-resolution raster (300 DPI, JPG/PNG). We review the file, check the repeat size, run a sample for your approval, then go into full production. Custom prints allow you to match your brand colours or create a unique design for your collection.

Pattern scale & placement.

The max printable width is around 145-150 cm, which covers most of the fabric width . There is no limit on the length – you can order as many metres as you need.

Colour matching.

We can match Pantone colours. For custom prints, we run a sample to confirm colour accuracy before full production.

FAQ

These are actual questions buyers have asked us about printed velour.

Q1: How is printed velour different from printed velvet?

A1: Velour and velvet are different constructions. Velvet is woven with a short, dense pile. Velour is knitted with a longer, softer pile (1-4 mm) that is more plush and comfortable . Printed velour has a softer, more casual feel than printed velvet. The print on velour also has a slightly softer, more muted quality because the pile texture breaks up the pattern.

Q2: Does the printed pattern fade or crack over time?

A2: No. We use sublimation transfer printing, where the ink bonds with the polyester fibres at a molecular level . The print is durable, colourfast, and does not crack or peel . The fabric also meets ISO 105 E03 colourfastness standards.

Q3: Can I print my own custom design?

A3: Yes. You send us your artwork – vector or high-resolution raster – and we print it on the fabric. We run a sample for your approval before full production. The MOQ for custom prints depends on the design complexity and number of colours.

Q4: Is this fabric durable enough for sofa upholstery?

A4: Yes. The warp-knitted construction gives the fabric excellent durability – ~30% more tear-resistant than standard upholstery fabrics . The fabric also passes the Martindale rub test with > 30,000 cycles, which is well above the standard for heavy residential upholstery . The printed surface is also wear-resistant.

Q5: Is the Printed Velour Fabric easy to clean?

A5: Yes. 100% polyester is stain-resistant and does not absorb moisture the way natural fibres do. For most spills, spot cleaning with a damp cloth and mild detergent works. The fabric is also shrink-resistant and colourfast . Some versions come with waterproof finishes for added protection.

Q6: Does the fabric meet fire safety standards?

A6: Yes. Versions are available with inherent flame retardancy that meet DIN 4102 / B1, EN 13501-1 / B-s1, NFPA 701, and other international standards . If flame retardancy is a requirement for your project – specify when ordering and we will supply the appropriate version.

Q7: Can I get a physical colour card or print swatch?

A7: Yes – and we recommend it. Screens cannot show the interaction between the print and the velour pile texture accurately. We keep swatch rings for our stock patterns. Custom print samples are produced on request. Free to request stock swatches – you cover shipping.

Q8: What is the MOQ for standard patterns vs custom?

A8: Standard patterns: 500 metres per design/colourway. Custom prints: MOQ depends on complexity and number of colours. Contact us with your design for a quote.

Q9: What weight options are available?

A9: We offer printed velour in 245 GSM (apparel, lighter curtains) , 280 GSM (standard upholstery, cushions) , and 320 GSM (heavy-duty upholstery, commercial furniture) . Custom weights are available – tell us your requirement.

Q10: Does the velour pile affect the print quality?

A10: The pile does create a subtle softening effect – the print will appear slightly less sharp than on flat fabric, but the trade-off is a rich, textural look that is unique to velour . For detailed prints, we recommend fine-line patterns rather than extremely fine text. The effect is more artistic than technical – and most customers find it adds to the fabric's appeal.
